Tiny Steps - Start Small

Every great journey starts with a single step. ~Lao Tzu

Introduction:

Celebrate your success- no matter how small. Every big win starts with a tiny step

Small steps for Big Wins with fibromyalgia

No shame in small beginnings. You've got to start somewhere

Hey Fibro Girl!

The theme for this month is Tiny Steps. Taking tiny steps is another key to thriving with fibromyalgia.

I’m sure you know how different your life is now than before fibromyalgia. You already know how something that you never thought about before has become huge.

Two Things to Remember:

☝️Celebrate everything that you can STILL do - even if it's the only thing that day. 🥳

✌️ It’s those tiny steps and small efforts that will end up helping you to thrive with fibromyalgia

There is NO SHAME in starting small

Start Small

Think of something you’d like to do (again or something new)

🌟Is it something important to you?

🌟What is the tiniest, smallest action you could take?

🌟Who or what can help you take that tiny step?

🌟 When are you going start?

Then start.

One Small Step

Celebrate you success

Then do it again tomorrow

And the next day

Also the day after that.

A Real Life Example

Pre-fibro, fitness was very important to me. Then I was absolutely forbidden to work out for four years. (I needed rest and recovery, but I couldn’t see it until my doctors pointed it out). When I was ready to get back to working out I started super small - like less than 5 minutes small. Like weight training with no weights, 1-5 times per exercise small.

I used to do a hard workout first thing in the morning. Now the best time for me to work out or move is right after lunch. And it’s a much gentler workout too.

✅I gave myself permission to stop after only one bicep curl or one squat

✅Listened to my body, if I could do more than one I would

✅Never pushed myself

Over the last three years of starting small and taking tiny steps, I’ve moved up to a full 30 minute weight training session at 10X each exercise with 10 pound weights and feel great afterwards.

So, what’s important to you?

What’s the smallest step you can take to start?
