Respect is what you give to others. Honour is what you give to yourself.

Introduction:

Stuck or Free? - Living with Fibro Limitations. Living Well With Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia and Limitations

Working with your fibromyalgia, the limits and the struggles

Hey Fibro Girl!

Limitation. What do you feel when you hear that word? Does it feel heavy and stuck? Like you’re chained or trapped? Or do limitations give you freedom? Like the boundaries of a river or a fence around a cliff?

What is Honour?

What in the world does “honouring your limitations” even mean? When we honour something or someone we give space to it or them. Deem as important. Respect.

By honouring your fibro limitations you are:

  1. Recognizing you have some limits and you know they are there

  2. Working WITH your limitations rather than AGAINST them

  3. Planning, Adapting & Adjusting so that you can enjoy your life to the best of your capabilities

Why your limitations can be freeing

I was on Pinterest the other day and there was a pin that said “it sucks when you have to use all of your precious energy doing basic stuff that there’s nothing left for the fun stuff.”

I bet you can totally relate, right? I know I sure could long ago. But, I’d like to go further with this. When you’re honouring your limitations it means you might shuffle things around in your day to do things that bring you joy when you have the most energy for them.  If you know that you feel more energetic after lunch, spend some time reading, going for a walk, singing, dancing  even if it’s just for a few minutes. Honouring your limitations also means paying attention to the times when you have lower energy and not forcing yourself to do the shoulds. When I started to honour and pay attention to my energy throughout the day it was amazing how much more productive I felt even at the worst. And everything still got done, the shoulds and the fun stuff.

Working with your fibro limitations

It’s OK to have limitations. Make them work for you. So do you want your limitations to keep you stuck, chained up and trapped? Or… Would you rather have your limitations act as a boundary of a river to easily flow down? You get to choose everyday!
I created a super short (and FREE) training about
A Fibro Girl’s Guide to Protecting Her Energy. Each lesson is about 10 minutes and lesson 1 will be in your inbox right away as soon as you sign up. Get this so that you can start honouring your limitations now!
