So Fibromyalgia has given you some limitations

Fibromyalgia is a lifestyle change, not a death sentence.

Introduction:

This month we’re talking about adapting.

Finding ways to make your fibromyalgia work for you.

Hey Fibro Girl!

Wow! June already! Am I right? Remember when a half an hour felt like FOR-EV-ER and now six months just flies right by just like that!

Adapting can be hard

This month we’re talking about adapting. I’m sure you’ve had to adapt to a lot with fibromyalgia. So have I. One of the hardest things for me to adapt to with fibromyalgia were the limitations on my:

  • Energy

  • Strength

  • Capacity

Not easy to do for someone who is independent and gets stuff done.

When I was able to recognize and accept those limitations, it became easier for me to adapt to them.

💜Your fibro limitations don’t make you WEAK or LESS THAN 💜Remember that!

Adapting can make life easy

In fact, being aware of them helps you to plan on how they can work FOR you. They can remind you to

💜Slow down

💜Listen to your body

💜Do what’s best for you at the moment

That’s adapting. You might not be able to do everything you once could - that’s OK. So what? Now you can put your energy into the things that matter to you. For you it could mean:

  • Making dinner after breakfast because you have more energy then

  • Planting your garden in pots because it’s easier to work at the table

  • Going to bed earlier because there’s no need to push yourself

Or maybe adapting to your limitations means:

  • Giving yourself plenty of love and grace while you learn to adapt to your fibromyalgia

  • Lowering the expectations you have of yourself

  • Having permission to do less

You are doing amazing at showing up every day, Fibro Girl!

I’d love to know what limitations you have and how you’ve adapted to them. Come and share in our private community Thriving with Fibromyalgia. I’ll be waiting for you there!
