I am learning to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me ~Tracee Ellis Ross
Introduction:
Revisiting your dreams. You owe it to yourself to have dreams and to pursue them with fibromyalgia.
Don't give up on your dreams just because you have fibromyalgia
What are your dreams?
I bet since you’ve had fibromyalgia your dreams have taken the backseat. Maybe you can’t even see them in the rear view mirror anymore.
Don’t despair, because now is a great time to revisit some old dreams. Do they still spark excitement? Have you outgrown some dreams? Are there some dreams you lovingly need to let go of?
Now, my love, with the ones that are left… what are the dreams that feel good to start taking tiny steps towards now? In a year from now? In five years?
When your brain has something fun to point towards, it will work to make it happen. And just maybe you might forget about the pain, exhaustion and fibromyalgia while taking those tiny steps.
I used to love running. Until May 2016 - my last run. I collapsed and my health went from bad to worse. This year, 2024, however, I was finally strong enough and healthy enough to think about running again. In January I put: run 2 KM on my dream board. In April, I found a really easy training program (like 30 sec intervals). If I followed the 8 week plan, I’d be running a 5 KM run by the end of it. So the first whole running day (no intervals) was actually a 3 KM run which I successfully completed on May 3🥳! SO PROUD of myself 🥳.
But a surprising twist: I realized my love for running was no longer there and I missed my daily walks. So I lovingly let go of my dream of getting back into running. Proud of my accomplishment. No shame. No judgment. No guilt. Just Gratitude and Love.
I’d like to encourage you to revisit your dreams. See how you can make them happen for you. Share them with me by replying to this email. I’d love to cheer you on!🥰
Finally, enjoy this holiday season, however you celebrate. I’ll be taking a few weeks break and I’ll be back in January.
Merry Christmas!
